1940's French Art Deco streamline moderne secretary. This is a spectacular and original one-of-a-kind piece that is extremely functional as well as exhibiting incredible good looks.
The 1940's French Art Deco streamline moderne secretary is swathed in incredible Bombay Rosewood veneer on its sides and top with gorgeous bookmatched burlwood on its door and drawer fronts. A naturally darker contrasting cut of the Bombay Rosewood is used at the secretary's two upper left and right right angles. The French Art Deco moderne secretary features its original rounded copper hardware pulls and copper hinges that have been hand polished and sealed into a gleaming result.
The upper interior of the French secretary features a very engaging and lovely blonde fiddleback sycamore veneer that acts as a beautiful foil and complement to the darker woods on the exterior. The drop down door offers an extremely generous inlaid writing surface that has been recovered in a soft and supple black cowhide leather. There are two drawers and five cubby holes of various size and orientation in the upper interior that provide very functional and useful space for paying bills, composing letters, organizing material, etc. The two drawers feature original dovetail construction.
There is also a large amount of storage space found in the bottom area of the French Art Deco secretary. One large drawer (with two copper pulls) occupy the top of the bottom section. There are two half width drawers underneath the full length drawer (one featuring a very deep storage capacity). Two shelves, with one adjustable, are found behind the lower door to the very right.
Trademark 1940's French streamline moderne large block feet anchor the spectacular secretary and are covered in beautiful bookmatched burlwood veneers.
This stunning example of 1940's French Art Deco streamline moderne design has been hand stripped and refinished by the artisans of Deco-Dence into a gorgeous result. Can anyone ask for better quality and attention to detail than this??
The French Art Deco secretary is ready to occupy that special place in your home or office. As you can see in the images, the secretary is wider at the very top and narrows as it moves down the piece to the bottom, creating the trademark 1940's French Moderne look that is so chic and highly desirable. Dimensions of the secretary are 44 5/8" wide (at the top) and 41 3/4" wide (at the bottom) x 52 7/8" tall x 19 3/4" deep.
